Five-year-old boy becomes real-life superhero after rescuing brother from car in flames
One brave little boy became a real-life superhero to his baby brother and family.
According to ABC 13 news, Isiah, 5, rescued brother Jeremiah, 2, from a treacherous truck accident the family was involved in Friday in Houston, Texas.
The stepfather, who was operating the moving vehicle that was traveling from Michigan to Galveston, died when the truck burst into flames after crashing into the freeway.
Isiah managed to pull his brother from the vehicle under the immensely stressful situation, saving his life.
The mother, who was driving in front of the van the boys were in, was apparently unaware the crash occurred and kept driving, according to KTRK-TV.
Jeremiah was quickly taken to the hospital, where he suffered second and third degree burns, and Isiah minor injuries.
Officials were able to reunite the mother with her sons hours after the accident.
In the meantime, the boys’ grandmother Sandy Watkins received a heart-wrenching call about what happened.
Watkins, who was in Michigan at the time, immediately purchased a one-way plane ticket to Houston.
The boys were required to be taken into custody by a notary temporarily, who the grandmother assigned to Tracee Jordan of Houston, which she calls “an angel” to the family.
Jordan, who stepped into action after receiving the request, not only did the notary work for free, but also created a GoFundMe page for the family. Jordan reached out to friends, family and co-workers to raise money for medical, funeral and travel expenses.
Watkins said Jordan is not a stranger to her, but a “friend for life.”
When Isiah reunited with his family, he recalled the event to his grandma, saying: "I got my brother Nana. I got him, I got him!”
Watkins said even though her grandson doesn’t realize it yet, he’s a true “superhero to everybody.”
