The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Dr. Mike Omotosho, has said his 71-year-old mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Omotosho, who was freed by her abductors, is healthy and fine.
He said the septuagenarian, who regained her freedom on Friday night, was not harmed.
Omotosho’s sister, Titilayo, had, in a text message to close family members, said the woman walked home by herself.
Also, the acting Chairman of Labour Party, Kwara State, Mr. AbdulKareem Onagun, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, also confirmed that the septuagenarian has been freed.
Four gunmen had abducted the septuagenarian at her family house, at Lobalade Street, Tanke, Ilorin, Kwara State, between 7pm and 8pm last Sunday, to an unknown place.
The abductors later demanded N100m before she would be released.
Details of her release were sketchy. It was not certain if ransom was paid or not before her release.
Kwara State Police boss, Mr Lawan Ado had, on Friday, while parading suspects of other kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism and vandalism cases said the Police had closed in on the abductors.
He said the Police had acquired sophisticated technology which enabled the Command to locate where the abductors were hiding.
Omotosho, on behalf of his entire clan, thanked everyone who stood by them during the ordeal.
He lauded the Nigerian security forces and the media for their effective and timely aid.
