No room for Arda Turan in new-look Turkey squad

Turkish football coach Fatih Terim on Friday kept Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan and a host of other established players out of the squad for the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers, bringing a fresh look to the side after its dismal Euro 2016.
Along with Turan — Turkey’s standout player of the last years and a national hero — there was also no room for the likes of Burak Yilmaz of Beijing Guoan, Caner Erkin of Besiktas or Selcuk Inan of Galatasaray.
The team announced by the Turkish Football Federation contains a streak of youth with the promising Danish-born winger Emre Mor of Borussia Dortmund, striker Enes Unal of FC Twente, both 19 and Caglar Soyuncu of SC Freiburg, 20, also included.
The squad will be for qualifiers against Ukraine on October 6 and Iceland on October 9.
