om Cruise is nearly synonymous with Scientology, but the
superstar actor doesn’t talk much about his religious beliefs in public.
The actor addressed the controversial church last week while promoting his newest film, “Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back,” reported US Weekly.
A reporter from ITV News asked Cruise to comment on the 2015
Louis Theroux documentary, “My Scientology Movie,” which is highly
critical of the religion founded by the science fiction author L. Ron
Hubbard.
“It’s something that has helped me incredibly in my life,” Cruise said. “I’ve been a Scientologist for over 30 years.”
He credits the church, which has been blamed for the breakup of all three of his marriage, for his success.
“It’s something, you know, without it, I wouldn’t be where I
am,” Cruise said. “So it’s a beautiful religion. I’m incredibly proud.”
Cruise was introduced to Scientology by his first wife, Mimi Rogers, in 1986, but she later left the church.
