The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has flagged off the construction of a coconut oil factory in the state as part of activities to mark his two years in office.
The governor, who described coconut oil as a most sought-after product globally, said the factory when ready would catapult the state to a global market.
In a statement by the state government, Gov. Emmanuel was said to have condemned the rampant attack on contractors by hoodlums in some communities.
He warned that any village that opposed the execution of the coconut factory through attack on the contractors handling the project risked withdrawal of the certificate of the village head/paramount ruler.
He stressed that the host communities would be the primary beneficiaries of the factory.
