Lagos State acting Commissioner of Police, Edgar Imohimi, has disclosed that the hideout of a 10-man robbery gang led by one Ayinla Azeez, was busted in the Egbin area, Ijede, Ikorodu, on October 8, 2017, by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command.
He identified members of the notorious gang:
Yinka Balogun, 20; Peter Oluwasegun, 32; Omolaja Oluwafemi, 29; Godday Samuel, 19; and Dennis Ifeanyi, 34.
Others were identified as Odubanjo Akeem, 35; Damilola Ogunbadero, 20; Dayo Tedunjaiye, 23; and 27-year-old Ogunsanya Yusuf.
“They all confessed to being members of Aiye Confraternity. One locally-made revolver with five rounds of live ammunition, one locally-made cut-to-size double-barrelled gun, one locally-made cut-to-size single-barrelled gun, two locally-made single-barrelled pistols with three live catridges, and one axe were recovered from them,” Imohimi said.
The police boss stated that $49,500 and €6,000 were recovered from some of the suspects while fake £1,500 was seized.
He added, “The command once again appeals to Lagos residents to be vigilant to make the state safe and secure.”
