Female students arrested in Akwa Ibom over campaign fund

Some students were arrested by police in Akwa Ibom state over alleged campaign mobilization fee. It all happened on Thursday, as the Special Assistant to the governor on students matters, Otobong Aquila, ordered the arrest of the female students after allegedly compromising her office.

 According to an eyewitness, Saviour Udoh, the students were reportedly released after intervention of the NANS chairman in Akwa Ibom, Comr. Akwaowo Clifford Ukpong.

Below is what he wrote;

“Incompetence of the Special Assistant to Gov. Udom Emmanuel; Ms Otobong Aquila proposed and mobilized 20 female students for the PDP campaign flag off, immediately after the campaign flag off, she escaped and refused to demobilize the female students.

She (Aquila) was to give them 20k but she sent 15k to them via her PA. The students rejected the 15k and called her severally but she refused to pick their calls, the girls had no option than to go wait for her at her shop.

While waiting there, Ms. Aquila called police to arrest and lock up the ladies.”
