And for achieving this feat, the second time in 6 years, Toyota presented Peace Mass with a commemorative plaque and a N2million cash prize at a colourful ceremony which held in Lagos on Thursday, March 30th, 2017.
Toyota representative and major dealer in Nigeria, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, made the presentations to
PMT, which was represented at the occasion by its South-West area manager, Victor Asadu.
The event held at the Grand Banquette Hall, Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe St., Victoria Island, Lagos.
Chief Ade-Ojo said at the occasion that Toyota was particularly proud of Peace Mass Transit Ltd for
being consistently loyal to its brands’ and greatly valued the business relationship existing between the two organizations.
Toyota, he said, desired that the robust and rewarding business relationship between the two even got stronger while commending PMT’s unwavering loyalty to the Toyota brand.
Chief Ade-Ojo is owner and proprietor of the Elizade Group, Toyota’s main distributor in Nigeria.
Awards for Toyota customers were in two categories, including the one won by PMT which was the only transport company in Nigeria so recognized.
First Bank was recognized for its loyalty to Toyota brands between 2012 and 2016.
Peace Mass Transit, which celebrated its 20th anniversary recently, first won the Toyota Best Customer award in 2012.
Speaking at a press conference in Enugu last Thursday, where he unveiled the recent Toyota award received by PMT as the best customer in Nigeria for 2016, the company’s Chairman, Dr Sam Maduka Onyishi, MON advocated for federal government’s intervention on roads transportation in Nigeria.
Onyishi said that whereas the government frequently intervenes in aviation and other means of transportation sectors, road transportation had been overlooked.
He noted that over 90 percent of Nigerians commute through roads but that little intervention has been received by the sector when compared to the interventions in other means of transportation.
Peace Mass Transit Ltd was established in 1996 and has a staff strength of over 4,000 Nigerians and 60 terminals across Nigeria.
The company has the largest mini-bus fleet in Nigeria. No less than 3000 buses are in PMT fleet, with about 2000 of these buses plying Nigerian roads on daily basis from 60 motor parks spread across the country.
Peace Mass Transit has embarked on safety standard measures to forestall crashes and body injuries if accidents occurs. Some of the measures include increased staff training, installation of speed limiters in all buses, compulsory use of seat belts in all seats, use of double propeller buses, among other measures.

A retired Federal Road Safety officer heads Peace Mass Transit’s Safety Training unit.
The company also has its own regular road marshals who, like the Federal road traffic police, move up and down the routes where Peace vehicles pass through. Their job is to patrol these routes daily and stop drivers for on-the-spot checks on number of passengers, waybills, speed and other materials relating to commercial traffic code.
During the 2016 Christmas season for instance, there was no report of any accident by any of PMT buses in all their routes.
This was a source of joy for the company’s management and staff.
